I’m Sophie, and my drive to close the gender data gap, like many, was inspired by Caroline Criado Perez’s book “Invisible Women”. This book alerted me to the importance of data disaggregation and the negative implications that occur when gender needs are not considered in research and product design. It made me think about my local train station, currently designed with one set of steep stairs to connect the second platform and the exit. The inaccessibility this must have caused for many is undeniable and it was all because individual needs were not considered.
My background is in Psychology and Human Factors. I am currently undertaking an MRes at Bristol University in Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on Human Factors.
